Have you ever heard of gum disease? If not, now you have! Gum disease is a serious and dangerous dental problem that forms when the plaque on your smile is left untreated. As the plaque continues to grow, it irritates your gums and deteriorates your underlying bone. If you’re not careful, it can result in loose and lost teeth. To prevent this disease altogether, our Prescott Dental Group team recommends doing the following things:
Keep up on oral hygiene
Oral hygiene is vital if you want to keep gum disease at bay. Brushing, flossing, and rinsing are three techniques that will properly and safely clean your smile each day. So, please remember to brush every morning and every night and floss and rinse daily.
Attend your dental exams
The only way to completely prevent gum disease is to attend your dental cleanings and exams. During your appointments, our dental team will use special tools to remove 100 percent of the plaque and tartar that grow on your chompers. This is why dental cleanings are recommended every six months. Please remember to visit your dentist at the necessary times.
Have a healthy diet
Having a healthy diet will help your teeth remain healthy and strong. And, the healthier your teeth are, the higher of a chance you’ll have at fighting tooth decay and gum disease. So, please remember to eat more fruits and veggies and stay away from the sugary and starchy foods.
Your dentist, Dr. Mark Curtis and Dr. Edward Reifman, and our dental team care about you and your oral health, which is why we strongly recommend fighting gum disease in Prescott, Arizona. If you need additional help doing so, please remember that you can always call 928-277-4754 and talk to a member of our team. We are here to assist you in any way we possibly can!
